Light Dramatic Soprano, (Jugendlich-dramatischer Sopran) Education: Bachelor of Music with an emphasis in Opera, 1996-2000 Experience

American Soprano Lauren Welliehausen is currently a guest soloist at the Theater of Lower Saxony in Hildesheim, Germany singing the role of “Senta” in “Der fliegende Hollaender”.
Critics laud: “…sung with Diva dramatic”, “…impressed with her voluminous Wager voice and lyric dreaminess”, “…sang expressively her will to indulge in the fantasy come true”. This season, she will also bring the role of “Marie” from the opera “Wozzeck” to life in two concerts with the Lüneburger Symphony.

 

Welliehausen also brought to life the role of “Dido” in “Dido and Aeneas” with the Schaumburger Land Symphony in 2013.

 

In the 2011-2012 season, she created the role of “Rezia” in “Oberon” for the 150th Anniversary of von Weber’s birthday. Welliehausen debuted in Hildesheim in 2010, stepping in at the last moment to sing Othmar Schoeck’s song cycle “Befreite Sehnsucht”. Critics responded positively: “…soprano Lauren Welliehausen, who interpreted the text very intelligently and above all very musically. Welliehausen remained at all times in sovereign command, with no shrillness in the upper range whatsoever, without even a trace of strain.”

 

Lauren Welliehausen is an active concert artist, working together with a string quartets and pianists from around the world. In 2012 she was a part of the Springe Kultkreis Concert Series. “Welliehausen shimmered in her new home debut, as it could not have been better prepared. From the downbeat, her crystal clear tones in the high as well as the low register were impressive and well-crafted.”

 

In 2007, she was a district winner in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Competition as well as a chosen participant in the Hans Gabor Belvedere Competition in Vienna, Austria.

 

Ms. Welliehausen has performed in the United States with companies such as One World Symphony (Ariadne auf Naxos), Lake George Opera (La Traviata, Madama Butterfly, H.M.S. Pinafore and Ariadne auf Naxos), New York Opera Project (Susannah) DiCapo Opera Theater, Opera Company of Brooklyn (Die Zauberflöte), Opera Northeast (Madama Butterfly), Champagne and Candlelight, Opera di Camera (The Old Maid and the Thief) and The Bronx Opera Company (The Bartered Bride).

 

Ms. Welliehausen studied German Lied under the direction of Norman Shetler at the 2006 Mozarteum Summer Academy in Salzburg, Austria. In addition, she spent the summer of 2004 in Vietri sul mare, Italy, at the Amalfi Coast Music Festival singing La Contessa in Le Nozze di Figaro and numerous concerts around the Amalfi region.

 

An avid performer of new music, Ms. Welliehausen made her Weill Hall (Carnegie Hall) debut in a joint concert in May, 2004, featuring a Requiem for Soprano, Piano and Cello.   Barry L. Cohen of New Music Connoisseur remarked “Lauren Bradley, a soprano with impressive credentials, did not disappoint….this reviewer became convinced he could listen to her all night long. In fact, I would drop everything to hear her in a solo concert.”

 

Additionally, Ms. Welliehausen was a featured soloist with the Clarion Music Society in 2007 at Weill Hall and was reviewed by David Moore of American Record Guide: "Lauren Bradley's expressive soprano,… were especially impressive."

 

She is a graduate of The Boston Conservatory’s Opera program.
